I replaced part 355 (the drive cup) a few weeks ago after noticing the small plastic piece had broken off (dispenser was jamming). With the new piece the dispenser would still labor and "skip" (causing wear on the new dispenser cup ) when trying to crush ice so we stopped crushing ice (this was within first 2 days). Now the dispenser got jammed again and although the dispenser cup is still okay (although showing more wear) the "ear" on part 359 has broken off where it attaches to part 361. Any thoughts on the best solution? I know I need a new part 359 now but should I also replace the entire dispenser assembly?
ANSWER Hello Chris,
The thing that causes this to ocurr is most often the small bits of ice that accumulate in the bottom of the crusher bin from normal operation. The small bits tend to freeze together and put the entire unit under excessive load. This opposes rotation of the auger and takes its' toll on the plastic parts of the dispense assembly. Another thing that contributes to the wear is the crusher bin not being completely installed into the locked position. This will even cause the freezer door to try to open during ice dispense since the auger yoke tries to jump out of the cup during the augers' rotation.
