GE gas dryer stopped working and found that the belt was broken. When I press start the dryer control panel comes on normally and then hitting start the timer starts to count down quickly by seconds instead of minutes and nothing else happens... no clicks or motor sounds or anything. Replaced belt but still results in the same exact issue..
Checked the switch that detects if the belt is broken and that is engaging and showing as good. Door switch is also good.
Check all thermostats for 0 resistance/continuity and all look good except for Inlet Control Thermostat... is that supposed to show continuity? Shorted the wires connected to the inlet control thermostat but no difference...
Any ideas? what else could it be? Please help.
ANSWER A Pat,
Based on this information it sounds like the control board for your unit is defective and would need to be replaced.
