This unit will not start. It began being difficult to start some time ago. The unit would start sometimes and work ok. Other times it would begin only to shut down a few minutes later. I replaced the start switch with little affect, it did actually start once with the timer in the wrinkle out mode. I have checked the thermostat for continuity. The four wire showed open at the inner terminals originally but a couple hours later I re-checked at it showed some resistance although it was not pegged. When the unit runs it sounds very smooth and strong. I have cleaned all the lint out and removed the vent pipe to be sure the exhaust was clear. From the very beginning I have suspected the timer but I am not going to replace the dryer one piece at a time. I need some help; timer? 4 wire thermostat? something elses? please help, my wife is seriously considering action, on me.
ANSWER Hello Rodney. If the thermostats and thermal fuse is good, you will make sure the door switch is good and if so, you either have a bad timer or motor. You will test for power to the motor. If none is there replace the timer. If the power is there, but motor does not run, replace the motor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
