Tried to replace blower and motor wheel. New motor part #AP4340786. When I installed the wheel it rubbed against the front of the housing. ( Not the rear ). I saw the question that was answered on this site which indicated that the wheel didn't need to be tightened all the way to install properly. I even reinstalled the old motor and blower wheel and it was a perfect fit. So I am wondering if the motor plate has to be changed or the blower housing in order to accomodate for the difference in the shaft positioning. So far I have spent approx $310 for parts the past few weeks. Glad I'm doing myself. Would hate to see the labor and trip charge for someone to come out. If I have to spend much more , I might as well just return the parts and go out and buy a new one. Thanks.
ANSWER Dave, You do have the correct part WE17M42 for your dryer. You don't have to attempt to torque the blower wheel as tight as possible, it's designed to tighten as the motor turns. Both the blower wheels are pretty much the same dimensions, you'll need to check to see that you have the motor mounted on the plate and support properly and there are no bent or twisted panels on the plate and the housing frame on the front of the base assembly.
