The freezer side still works fine and get cold below 32F. I check and clean for ice and frost and clean up. The small air duct between the freezer to the fresh food compartment is open and clear. But the fresh food compartment does not get cold and stay above 50F. How can I open the evaporator fan assembly to check if this fan is running? If not blowing, how can I replace this fan? Thank you.
ANSWER Hello Larry,
Remove the shelves and there are 4 screws that hold the back panel on. Two are 1/4 inch hex and two are Phillips head. This will allow the removal of the back wall panel. The fan motor is up a little higher, but if you pull out on the upper cover, you can see the fan motor. If it isn't running, you should test for voltage before ordering the fan motor. If it is getting voltage, you can remove the screws up a little higher on this cover to access the fan motor for replacement. Some models actually require the removal of the ice maker and the auger shelf. Other models have room to change the fan motor from here.
