I have hotpoint dryer NBXR463EB3WW, it will squeal when first loaded and as clothes dry the squealing starts to let up some, if no load in dryer it will not squeal at all. I am guessing from previous posts the rear bearing. how do I get it apart to look at the bearing and guides. Does the top come off first then the front ? What all parts do I need to replace along with bearing kit. the drum has a lot of movement in the front but very little in rear where heat shield is. should the front have a lot of play in it? I would guess an inch or so of movement . I know a lot of questions, just trying to learn how to fix it and what to check once I get it apart.can you tell me how many guides this model has as well. Once I get this apart will I be able to tell if front bearing and guides are worn by looking at them?
ANSWER Hello Mark.
Open the dryer door, remove the screws that secure the top of the dryer to the front panel, and raise the top.
loosen the (2)screws, holding the bottom of the front panel to the frame, in the kickplate area.
Disconnect the wire harness to the door switch, and remove the screws(1 on each side) holding the front panel to the cabinet frame. Once you have the front off, you will need to reach in through the cut out in the front frame and release the drum belt from the idler pulley. You then grasp the drum, and lift up on the back portion of the drum, to disengage the drum bearing shaft from the composite drum bearing WE25M40, and slide the drum out of the cabinet. You should vaccuum and dust out the complete interior and all the components, then re-assemble the dryer. Hope this helps.
