I think my dryer motor may be shot. Is there a way to tell? A guy was saying that the spindle in the center should turn freely. I don't know if this is true. We did find two 1/4 " size ball bearing in the bottom of the fan housing. He said they were from the motor?
I just noticed that there is another part " rear drum bearing" not sure if they could be from this. We noticed the drum was hard to turn when we opened the top. The dryer just make a humming start noise but nothing inside moves.
ANSWER Hello Newbe,
The motor has a bushing even though they are referred to as bearings. The ball bearings you found are not part of the unit so they must have been in a pocket or somehow got into the wash. There are two roller wheels 349241T in the rear and an idler pulley 691366 that the belt rides on. These should spin freely. If any of them will not turn or oppose rotation. There is also a "bearing" in the front of the drum which is actually a plastic glide 3394508. Let us know if you need further assistance.
