I have a GE Super Capacity Plus clothes washer, Model # WCSR4170GWW. It is making a screeching noise while it runs. The gap between the top of the tub and the top of the washer has increased over time, and when I remove the front panel and look at a loaded washer, the bottom of the tub is scraping against the bottom frame of the washer. The tub looks level, but it's just riding WAY too low. As far as I can tell, all of the suspension rod assemblies are intact. I understand that a suspension rod assembly can wear out over time, but wouldn't it be unusual for them to all go at the same time? How do I know if I need to replace some or all of the suspension rods, or if it could be some other problem?
ANSWER Hello David,
You will want to check the apron on your unit to see if it is bent. If it is you will want to get the apron kit WH49X20925 for white and WH49X20925 for bisque. It is also possible for the suspension rods to wear out but check this first.
