I pryed off the decorative trim and unplugged the switch. The female end of the switch plug is down about 3 or 4 inches and the access way is only about an inch square. The female end is not fixed so it must be held in place while plugging in the male end of the new switch. It seems like a couple pairs of long needle nose pliers is the only way, but with only a square inch access area, it is crowded and not possible to see. Is there a trick to plugging in this new switch? Thanks, Mike
ANSWER Hello Mike,
It's been a while since I last serviced one of these, but if I remember correctly, the snorkel was in the down position. I removed the cook top and set it on the edge of the counter top to allow room to remove the gear motor panel and access was greatly simplified. This was quite a lot more work since it was a gas unit and I had to disconnect the gas line but, in the long run, it was much easier than trying to connect the two without being able to see or physically touch either connector.
