Dear Sir, We have a GE oven of the above model, Serial No. TH248993P since 3 years. When the oven reaches 400 degrees Fehrenhite it used to drop a bit and reignite automatically, which was acceptable. Since 6 months the oven drops from 400 F to 225 F and we have to clear it off and put it on agian. This affects its performance significantly. We have a sub-technician here who recommended changing the valve assembly, which I doubt. I am inclined to believe the problem could be the temperature sensor, which the technician thought to be unlikely. I seek your advice since there is a great difference in the prices of the two items. Shall I make an order for the valve assembly for this case or the temperature sensor could be the source of the problem. I am an engineer but the oven repair is beyond my knowledge/experience. I look forward towards receiving your advice. Please accept my thanks in anticipation. Ahmad S.
ANSWER Hello Ahmad. You can test the sensor and see if it is ok. At room temperature it should read around 1100 ohms and around 1600 ohms at 350°. Hope this helps.
