First off, thanks for the awesome tips. I learned about the ignitor from reading the site.
Our ignitor went bad a few weeks ago, replaced it and all seemed fine.
Today we started up the oven and after about 15 minutes heard a loud pop, then a loud woosh and flames were seen behind the oven.
Unplugged the oven, but could still hear gas. Moved the oven and shut off the gas.
I removed the broiler pan and took a look, but I couldn't see anything, except for some burn areas above the safety valve where the flame was coming out. I turned the gas back on for a second and heard the gas flowing pretty loudly, so I turned it back off. Again the oven is totally turned off, no power to it at all, but we can really heard the gas. Could this be the safety valve?
ANSWER Hello Rick. Yes, you will need to replace the safety valve on the unit.
