I have got an older GE clothes washer heavy duty 7 programs, recently had water leaking from the bottom. I took the back off and it seem that when it is on spin cycle the water is shooting out of a small round hole (looks factory) in the plastic water pump is there suppose to be a plug in this or is it dirty and spitting out or do i need a new pump.
ANSWER Pierre, You will need to replace the pump assembly WH23X42 . The opening you're referring to is called a "weep hole" and is designed to leak if or when the pump interior seal(s) fail. Servicers use this area of the pump as an indicator for a drain pump failure water indicating a bad seal(s) discoloration or metal powder debris as a bearing or shaft failure.
