I have a musty smell from inside of the stainless steel tub area on my LG WM205CW and doesn't appear it is coming from the door gasket. The door gasket is clean and does not smell. I have followed the manufactures recomendation and run the "tub clean" cycle with bleach but the smell keeps coming back after the tub drys. I keep the door open when not washing. Do you think it is a combination of soap scum, mold, and debis caught behind the tub area or is it in the drain or both? Any suggestions or will I have to remove the gaskets and clean behind the tub?
drain and tub?
ANSWER Dave, Try this, Add four(4) ounces of powderred automatic dishwasher detergent (any brand will do) directly into the tub. Add one(1) cup of chlorine bleach directly to the tub, fill the bleach dispenser with chlorine bleach and start the washer on a normal, hot wash/cold rinse wash cycle, and allow the cycle to run the full cycle to off. You may have to repeat the process a few days later. after one or two processes, and the odor dissipates, you'll want to make sure you're using the proper amount and type of detergent, fabric softner and the warmest or hottest water temperature for the type of load being washed. Check and make sure the drain hose is not taped or sealed to the drain pipe. Once you're satified, you may want to purchase W10135699 and use it to clean the washer a few times a year, to reduce chemical build ups in the tub interior.
