Often, not always, the dE error code appears in the digital screen. I know it means door not locked, but I have checked everything. The gasket is not damaged; I have reset the machine as directed on line. I have even rotated the drum clockwise which was suggested in one on line source. Sometimes these tricks actually work, but I never really know if I'll be able to wash clothes on any given day. I'm told this may be a $300.00 repair to replace the "switch assembly." Do you have any better suggestions?
ANSWER Linda, Yes it could be an expensive repair, if the issue is due to the control board itself 6871EC1118A . You should check and make sure there are no loose connections or frayed wire(s) at the door latch switch assembly 6601ER1004C and check all the connctions at the main control board, for the same, you may want to acquire some electrical contact cleaner, and use that to clean the pins on the board, and the terminals in the harness connections, to insure a good "clean" and "positive" connection. If alls OK, then repalce the control board.
