A couple weeks ago I had a problem with my washer during the wash cycle. It would make a grinding style noise and the tub would not spin during the wash cycle. However if I stopped it and did a rinse and spin it worked just fine. Someone suggested I needed to replace the rotary position sensor, so I ordered it from you guys and replaced it but now I have a different problem. Now the machine will go through the wash cycle but once it hits the rinse cycle now it makes the grinding noise the tub will not turn and it will not drain.
ANSWER Hello Kim,
You should remove the hoses between the outer tub assembly and the drain pump to ensure there are no foreign objects obstructing the pump or preventing draining. I would also closely inspect the inside of the tub for nails, screws, similarly shaped items that can slip through a hole in the spin basket and contact the outer tub. If these are good, turn the spin basket by hand and check that there is no grinding. The motor rotor can be removed and inspected for cracked magnets and/or damages windings.
