MY LG refrigerator water dispenser has quit working. Unit still makes ice. When I push the water dispenser, can hear no sound. Do I need to replace the solenoid valve? If so, what model number do I need?
ANSWER Hello Tom,
This does sound like it could be the water valve but you may want to pull the filter out and try first to make sure filter is good. If still not working then you should check to make sure that you are getting power to the water valve 5221JB2006A. You should have 12 vdc to the valve when dispenser is depressed. IF there is power then you would want to change the valve if no power then check at the control board 6871JB1259Dfor power to the water valve. If no power then you need new control board. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
