how can you get ice maker to kick on to be able to read the volts. it is only reading .3 at the wire contactors to the valve. is there a fuse somewhere for the ice maker? the best i can tell water is getting to the valve and the valve is not oppening. thanks for your time.

ANSWER David, Baseed on the parts diagram and the icemaker that should be in your refrigerator 5989JA0002U to start a test cycle, press and hold the cube size adjustment button( below the LED) for three to five seconds and the icemaker should star the test mode (if the cycle doesn't start after a couple of attempts, the ice maker is faulty and will need to be replaced(it's non serviceable) if the test mode does start, then the fill switch in the mechanism will apply 120 VAC to the wiring on the icemaker for approximately 8 to 15 seconds. Good Luck and Thanks and Good Luck
