Pressing the icemaker size switch for ~10 secs, the med and small cube LEDs come on, and the maker acts as if it's ejecting a batch of cubes- the bail moves up, and the teeth rotate. Then the water valve opens and water drips from the icemaker. It has been off for a while, and I'm only now starting to test it--the system isn't fully cold yet. Earlier, when we shut off the icemaker, the symptoms were sheets of ice at the bottom of the freezer compartment. I'm guessing I need at least the valve, if not the icemaker as well....
You will want to pull out the icemaker and empty all water out of the icemaker. Once you remove all the water or ice out of the icemaker then reinstall it and cycle the icemaker to see if it is still leaking. If not then the icemaker and valve are not the issue. If the ice was on the entire bottom of the freezer compartment then you would want to check the drain behind the wall of the freezer to make sure that the drain is not blocked. If blocked then when the unit goes into the defrost, instead of the water going into the drain pan, it runs into the freezer due to blockage.
