My ice maker will fill with water only when first turned on. It fills, freezes, ejects cubes, and then won't fill again. I have checked and the valve is getting power both when it fills (obviously) and when it doesn't fill. I can turn if off for as short a time period as 20 to 30 minutes, and when I turn it back on, it will fill. The in door water dispenser which gets water from the same valve, works just fine. Is a bad valve the likely culprit, even though it works fine when the ice maker is first turned on and for the water dispenser?
This issue would be more likely caused by a bad water valve. If you get power to the water valve when it fills and when it doesn't fill then the water valve is sticking closed and needs to be replaced.
