I purchased a defrost timer (AP4565266) to replace my faulty original OEM timer. The PIN order on the two timers are different. On the original part as you look at the PINS with the numbers facing you it is ordered 2-1-4--3 whereas the replacement part is 2-3-4--1. The double-dash distinguishes the grouping of the first 3x PINS from the fourth pin. I called APP before I installed and they said to follow the PIN order - place the wire that was in PIN 1 into PIN1, PIN 2 into PIN 2, etc. However, when I do this the timer never advances and the compressor never cycles on - even when I manually advance the timer. I put the original defrost timer back in so at least the refrigerator will run until the frost eventually will build back up again. Should I instead place the wires back in their original order, regardless of their PIN number?
ANSWER Hello B.M.,
I would send the one you have now back and order a 63001353. This timer has the correct connection sequence. This is the way to go since there will be no wiring cutting and splicing. The difference in the defrost times is acceptable as it is not extending but decreasing time between defrost cycles.
