Our Samsung RS2630SH refrig has slowly died. We noticed that the Ice cream started to get soft so I put a thermometer in the freezer and it varied between 0 and 40° F. I ordered and installed a new Defrost Sensor and a Thermo Bimetal Protector this evening and plugged in the refrig (with thermometer in it) After an hour the temp did not change. I pulled the refrig out and could not hear or feel and vibration from the compressor. I unplugged the refrig removed the main board cover on the back and plugged it back in. I could here the relays on the board click and both the evap and condensor fans started running, but no compressor. So I read some things on your website that it may be the start relay. I removed both the relay and the OLP(Overload Protector). I measure the voltage between the line going into the OLP and the line going into the Start Line , then I measured between the same line going into the OLP and the Run Line and both time I got a voltage of about 24 VAC and once the relays clicked on and the fans started running the voltage jumped up to 30VAC for the Start Line and about 35 VAC for the Run Line. Basically I was measuring voltage without both device attached when I did this. Does this indicate a bad relay? a bad run capacitor? or a bad compressor? Are there any other test I can preform to verify whats wrong such as hooking the compressor directly to 110AC? Any help is greatly appreciated.
ANSWER Hello Charlie. This indicates the main control board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.
