I replaced the door latch on our dishwasher (it was broken and one spring was missing) and now when I restore power and try to turn it on, the lights all come on, but the little dash that usually starts turning indicating that it's starting, is just staying lit and dishwasher won't start. When I replaced the latch, it was missing a spring...I am waiting for that part to come in but I wouldn't have thought that spring would be necessary for it to work. I do have one spring...but could that be the problem...the missing spring? Or could I have messed with the electronics?
ANSWER Jen, We would not expect a missing spring to be the issue. The display is working, so the door switches are "closed" and you have power to the control board. Your next check should be the touchpad ribbon between the control panel and the control board. Remove the connector, and clean the insertion end of the ribbon thoroughly with rubbing or denatured alcohol. Reinsert the ribbon into the connector properly and tightly. If the problem persists replace the control panel 8270232.
