My Whirlpool gas drier runs normal at start, but after only a few minutes the gas stops burning suddenly and the drier colls down, but still runs. Lint was building up in the exhaust chute, but now is clear. I have removed all panels and cleaned the drier well. Build-up of lint was on the thermal fuse, but I can see no visible signs of any components failure. What component(s) might likely be causing this cool-down situation? Thank you for yoru time!
ANSWER David, You most likely have a weak gas valve coil assembly 279834. You could carefully remove the 1X1 in. square plastic cover 3394975 on the front panel, Start the dryer on a heat cycle, and wait for a few minutes(5 to 10 minutes) then use the opening to observe the ignition procedure. You should see the igniter start to glow, in 30 to 60 seconds the igniter should start to fade, and the ignition should occurr. If the ignition doesn't occurr, this would indicate a weak coil. If the igniter doesn't glow, this would indicate a "sticky" radinat / flame sensor 338906 or cracked, weak igniter 279311. You most likely have a coil assembly issue, based on your description.
