I am replacing a hub /seal on a Amana LWA50AW. When I replaced the agitator 5 of the teeth broke off so now I need to buy a new agitator. The instructions said to line up the fingers with the large slots on the bell drive which you cannot see so how the do you do this? Then it said to use a sharp blow on top to force it on. So, my concern now, if I pay $50 bucks for a new agitator is there some way to get this back on without breaking any teeth again? Granted the washer is around 20 years old and the teeth may have been brittle but I really want to get the new one on with no issues.
ANSWER Hello John,
All you have to do to get it straight is push down while turning a bit. When you feel it drop a hair, knock it down with a bit of force. I never use a hammer as this will damage it. It actually doesn't take that much force. I use my body weight and I weigh 175 lbs. Let us know if we can assist you further.
