unfortunately the spines on the agitator are completely stripped, so the whole spindle - drive shaft spins in the agitator
I need to temporarily freeze the drive spindle in order to remove the retaining nut and agitator

ANSWER Hello Tom. There is no way of doing that with this transmission. If the splines are stripped, you are looking at a new gear box and will need a long drill bit to drill the bolt out of the agitator. You will also need to use a punch and mark the center of the bolt to start the drill bit into.
