The agitator in my washer is floating up, and I am looking for the locking screw. When I look up the parts online (https://www.maytag.com/digitalassets/MLPDF/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%20LAT3600AAE.pdf) I see the agitator as part one, but it has several different pieces. The bottom one is still attached and agitates, but the top most part is floating off. I think the screw you mentioned in your response to my last question is to lock the bottom part to the machine. Is there supposed to be a plastic clip inside the bottom part of the agitator to keep the uppermost part attached? It seems to just sit there, so I know something must be missing.
ANSWER Hello Lynne. If the agitator is broke, you will need to order and replace the agitator assembly 22001821 on the unit.
