I have a Maytag Neptune TL washer. I'm sorry I don't have the model # as I can't pull the washer out from the wall yet. I don't have any booklet on it . I was washing a load and all of a sudden there was this very loud screeching noise (like when a belt brakes on a car ) and a strong smell of burning rubber. Can you please help with an idea of what it might be. I feel that the washer is too good to just trash but would like to try to get it fixed. I can try to get the model number to you if still needed. ANSWER Hello Pam. Try turning the tub by hand and see if the tub is locked up in the unit. If so, make sure there is nothing between the tubs. If not, you will need to replace the outer tub assembly, the bearings are bad on the unit.
