My whirlpool washer will agitate slow or not spin at all. It seems to spin more during the wash cycle than the spin cycle and leaves our clothes wet and not very clean. Does this machine need a new agitator replacement kit? Also, I tried to remove the shaft by unscrewing the screw on the shaft and tried to lift it up. I lifted the machine so hard it came off the ground but the shaft seemed to be stuck or was held in place by some other way. Am I doing this correctly?
ANSWER Sethyg, sounds like you may have two issues, A worn out drive belt 3934700 and or brake 3428323 and splutch cams etc.3428342. As for removing the agitator, there is a 5/16 in. hex head screw in the lower area of the agitator shaft that has to be removed then you can lift the agitator up and off the shaft of the transmission. We'll send you some more information, that will help you out. Thanks and Good Luck
