my washer will not agitate the clothies and when it trys it makes a grinding noise.

ANSWER Patrick, You may have a damaged agitator "dog" system, If you can turn the agitator auger assembly in both directions, you'll need to replace the agitator. If the agitator checks OK, your issue could be in the transmission 35-6615 or more likely a thrust bearing issue
12002213 . You'll need to remove the drive belt, and transmission pulley and cams, slip the "cam" back onto the splined arae of the shaft. turn the cam clockwise, you should be able to hear and feel if the gears inside are meshing and rolling properly.
