The agitator on my Kenmore washing machine is not agitating. I was about ready to order new "dogs" (directional cogs) or an agitator repair kit, but after looking at a video to see how to pull the agitator assembly out of the washer I see that the 7/16th inch bolt has broken off. Any suggestions on how to get the bolt out?
ANSWER Hello Ted,
If you can pull the agitator out the end of the bolt should be protruding a bit. You can use a hacksaw to put a slot into the top of the bolt shaft so you can try a flat blade screwdriver or you can drill a hold down the center of the bolt and use an easy out to retract the remaining part of the screw. If the agitator will not come out, you may have to break it out to complete the repair.
