We bought our Whirlpool Cabrio second hand. When cleaning the tub and lifted the basket out we found red clay mud that was caked in the shaft. It seems like someone washed really muddy clothes in the machine and over time it just stopped working. When we first bought it, the machine gave us the F50 error and since we knew no better, we just replaced the RPS sensor. This didn't change the message on the display so we began to disassemble the machine. After finding the mud caked to the inside we are hopefully at the end of our search! But, do we need to lubricate the shaft after cleaning off all the muck?
Once the muck is removed you will want to check to make sure that the tub spins freely by hand. If it does not then the issue may be that the bearings are bad and would need to be replaced. The part number for the bearing kit for this unit is W10435302 and the tool to change the bearing would be part number W10447783.
