Maytag a9700 motor runs but agitater doesn't agitate. I'm smelling like something is burning. What can cause this?

ANSWER Hi Victor. Remove power. Remove the front panel. Lift the unit up and support it. You are probably smelling the belts burning part # 12112425. Remove the belts and rotate the pump part # 6-2022030, motor part # 12002353. and the main pulley. The main pulley will rotate and click one way. The opposite way it will compress a brake spring to lift the brake pads so the unit can spin. Thank You.
