I have a Kenmore Elite model 66513853K602 5 1/2 years old. It was installed by Sears in a new home. I checked the dishwasher with a level and is perfect. As a few others have reported, I had pieces of a plastic strip (soft & somewhat flexible) drop off under the dishwasher door. It was a short time after that we started getting a leak at both corners of the door. I checked the float switch and it moves freely. Next, I released the door springs & removed the door. I looked closely at the rubber door seal and it seems fully intact with no nicks. The air inlet piece also seems to be in good condition (no nicks or cracks). What is the function of the flexible plastic strip and what is procedure to remove & replace if it is functional in sealing water? What is part number?
ANSWER Hello Bill,
The plastic strip is the air vent 8268937. This will have the rubber gasket on it to keep water from coming out of corners. To replace you will open door and remove the screws holding in the inner panel. The air vent is screwed at the bottom of door.
