When I tried to replace filter that was a "replacement" for the original, I didn't realize until afterwards that it was a tiny bit different, as far as where to start with the label to screw on. When I screwed that replacement on, I was having a problem getting it to start on the grooves. I then took it out to look at it, saw it was a little different, and then saw that the male piece that slid into the hole in the middle of the filter with the o-ring snapped off at a place that was level with the top of the filter. I pulled it out of the filter with pliers and saw it also had the o-ring on it. Now that I saw where the grooves were, I put the broke-off piece back in with the o-ring and finally put the filter on. I have not had the filter replaced in quite a few years, so I don't know how fast it is supposed to be working, but it is working at a decent clip. I put some plastic container in the fridge under the filter to make sure it doesn't leak, and it hasn't so far. I saw this part on your website: AP4245984, that seems to be a replacement for the part the filter for the water supply screws into, but I don't see the male piece that slides into the hole in the filter. Is this really the right part, and where is that male piece?

Kevin for Model Number Amana SXD26VW

ANSWER Kevin, You can't see the internal male connection in the photo, because the " bypass" plug is installed, The filter you orderred and installed should have been WF401S and should be repalced at least once a year. It sounds like everything is fine as is, but if you decide to replace the filter head/bypass assembly, you have the correct part number for the part, just remember to turn the water off, and unplug the power cord, and you'll do fine. Thanks and Good Luck
