I just bought this washer and at the top of the agitater it has the spot for fabric softner. Underneath that I noticed a blue ring that says on, push down to lock into place. I pulled it up and found that the whole top of the agitater with the fabric softner thing comes off. Underneath this is a round permenate cover that says "3 way wash action" . My question is what is this feature for? Is it for when you don't want to use fabric softner or does it change the washing action? Removing the top obviously lowers the agitator height.
I didn't receive the manual with this washer as I bought is used from a appliance repair shop with a one year warranty, but am interested in what this feature is for. Also do you have a manual for this machine? Thank you.

ANSWER Hi. Make sure the bolt under the fabric softener cap part # 8528278 is tightly holding the agitator down. Then pop the fabric softener cap firmly onto the top of the agitator. The 3-way action refers to the back and forth agitator action. Lastly the vertical movement of the agitator vanes that pull the clothes inward from the top -> down to the bottom of the tub over and over to immerse the clothes in the wash action. On the fabric softener bottom there is a 3/8" surrounding opening that dispenses the softener. Keep the softener cap clean regularly with a bottle brush. Thank You.
