We have a double built in wall oven. KitchenAid, stainless steel. After 6 years I used the self cleaning feature (I usually would just wipe it out) and now the bottom oven will not heat. We were told it may be the Bake element. We are going to pull out the oven and try and fix this our selves. We live in a remote area and do many repairs on our own. What are some other things to check besides the Bake element while we have our oven pulled out? What do you think it could be?
ANSWER Hello Jody,
The question that needs to be answered is if the broil element works or not. If it does, the bake element or the bake relay on the control assembly W10438752 will be the issue unless the wiring has an issue. If the broil element will not work either, the units' thermal cut-out 9759242 has most likely failed for the bottom unit. There should be a thermal cut-out for the upper unit and one for the lower unit (as per the tech. sheet).
