My washer spin tub has been rubbing against the outer tub and worn holes in the outer tub near the top. I changed the main bearing and outer tub seal. It is still rubbing when it spins, could the balancing ring be the problem? It seems to be more serious than the possibility of the lower bearing? Is the balancing ring susposed to have a liquid in it, mine does? I would appreciate your opinion. Thanks Rick
ANSWER Hi Rick. Yes the balance ring has a certain chemical used to counter balance the tub. If it is not clipped in tight to the outer tub, it will create an off balance issue. Are all the springs intact and placed correctly on the tub support and the base with the ends of the springs set through the holes? In between the inner tub support and the hub (5-bolt assy.) there was a discontinued filter. If this was misplaced or offset somehow this may be the issue. Remove it altogether. You need to remove parts from the top down into the tub and inspect what is off setting reassembly. Is the basket or hub not bolted down tight? Let us know if we can assist further. Thank You.
