So, my washer stopped working. I thought it was the transmission however after I removed the motor and transmission I found that when turning the drive coupling while it was attached to the transmission the spindle turned without any problem. So I then hooked up the lid switch and the motor and when I moved the timer to spin the motor hummed loudly but would not spin. I'm hoping I'm correct in assuming the motor is no good. What do you think?
Assuming the that unit is filling with water and agitating then the issue would be in the timer and not in the motor. The contact for agitate is sticking an causing the issue.
