My Kenmore washer just stopped spinning. On Chat they suggested that I may need a new transmission. (?)
However, in reading the function of the Basket Drive ... I'm beginning to think that maybe THIS is the problem, and not the transmission itself.
How can I make sure it is one part or the other causing this problem?
Symptom: I can hear the motor spinning, but the drum does NOT spin and the water does not drain.
ANSWER Hello Dandy. Due to the fact that the motor both pumps and spins the unit, it is likely the motor is not running. Otherwise, it would drain, but not spin out. I would start by checking the motor to see if it is actually running on the unit.
