I'm noticing a modeled shadowy smudge on bright white clothes I assume is grease? One time I actually witnessed black greasy water coming through the holes in the tub during a rinse cycle. I've researched it online and one suggestion is replacing the direct drive washer basket drive kit. Do you agree this could be the solution? If so, do I need to remove the spanner nut to install the drive kit? Any other possibilities for the discoloration of clothing? And no....I do not wash greasy items in my machine!!!
ANSWER Debbie, A pretty quick way to check is to remove the agitator, if the spin tube seal is faulty, there will be a grease/oil ring on the inside of the agitator, when you look inside 3347288. There may also be oil or grease on the hub nut and drive block 21366 389140 if there is no oil/grease, it's not likely you'd have an issue with the spin tube seal, If you decide to investigate further, yes, you will need to remove: The spanner nut, drive block, spin basket, transmission and spin tube. It's a lot easier than it sounds. Thanks and Good Luck
