Hi, I have a maytag met3800tw2 that everything appears to work on except for when it begins any type of spin cycle it makes a really loud noise grinding noise and then the thermal switch in the motor trips and it begins to smell, after it cools it will restart and do the same thing. I took the motor off and tested it with an alternate power source and it works normally. Any ideas?
Thanks
Erik

ANSWER Hello Erik,
It sounds like your clutch is not releasing causing the unit to not spin. This will cause motor to overheat and trip thermal.
