I ordered a new drive belt. It has the same number as my old belt but the new one is probably about 2 or 3 inches shorter. Is there a certain way to get new belt on or do you think the belt is wrong?

Brian H. for Model Number MAH8700AWW

ANSWER Brian, It may seem like the belt is too small, but it's not, Per our parts information a new belt should measure 51.5 " long. It can be difficult to install a new belt on this style washer( all brands and models ) because of the belt contruction and compounds used. You should find it easiest to install and hold the belt in position on the motor pulley, and "walk" or "roll" the belt onto the drum pulley, then turn the pulley several revolutions, so the belt aligns itself ( be careful, you don't want to pinch your fingers between the belt and pulley or the pulley and the outer tub).
