My ice machine is frozen down and I'm sure that I need to replace the whole crushing section. I'm having problems also with the release button letting me take out the whole section. Do you know what part number I'm looking for and how I can get that old section off without breaking something?
ANSWER Hello A. J.,
This is a common issue with this design. I always use a hair dryer to melt the crusher bin free. Then take the crusher bin to the sink and use water to clear all ice build-up. You can use the hair dryer to clear the ice build-up from the freezer door. Don't put the ice bin back in wet. Either dry it with the hair dryer or leave it setting out over night to dry on its' own.
Two things you need to do now. First, set the freezer at least one setting warmer. The other thing, check the ice door with a flashlight for an air leak. If light can get through, air can get through also.
