My dryer is a gas Amana LG50AW. It heats up for a few minutes at the beginning of the cycle and the cools down and blows cold for the rest of the cycle. The dryer has to sit and cool down for a while before it will heat up again.
ANSWER Dan, Based on your post description, you either have a weak gas supply issue, or a "bad set of gas valve coils 279834 (thats most likely the issue) You'll need to remove the lower access panel ( 2 screws in the bottom of the panel, 2 locator pins at the top of the panel) and observe the gas valve operation, When the dryer starts you'll hear a click, the igniter will glow for 30 to 60 seconds, the igniter will start to fade and the gas should ignite, after a few cycles of the valve, you'll probably notice the igniter glow and cycle off but no gas released and no ignition, The coil winding has opened, and the solenoids are not lifting the plunger in the valve. Thanks and Good Luck
