I had to replace the wash impeller. I noticed the chopper was chewed up on one side. My chopper blade has 2 notches coming off the center hole. Is the plastic piece it sits on supposed to have matching notches sticking up that the chopper blade slips over? If so, mine are broken off with just a remnant remaining. The blade doesn't really "seat". It just kind of sits there loose. Also, can I put everything back together and still use the dishwasher with or without the chopper blade installed? We dont plan on letting food go into the dishwasher from now on. Thanks.
ANSWER Hello Ralph. I strongly recommend against modifying the design by leaving out the chopper blade assembly. Without the blade, small food particles will clog the screen. I recommend replacement of the pump seal kit 6-919539 which will provide you with the proper ridges which mesh with the chopper balde for normal operation. Hope this helped!
