I have a Kitchen Aid gas oven and after I ran the self-cleaning mode the oven will shut off ramdonly when cooking around 400 Degrees. Once it shuts off (like an over temperature, thermal switch) you can re-start it easily. I replaced the termal switch (only one in the back of the unit, KGRS807SSS00) and this did not fix the unit - still ramdonly turning off when in the bake oven mode, does anyone have any idea as to what defective part is causing this shutdown? Thanks for any help.
ANSWER RKR, There are a couple of other possibilities. Is the cooling fan running 9759320 and keeping the control panel area "cool" ? You will need to remove the control panel and check the Thermal switch and thermal cutoff mounted to the front of the top burner box, if the thermal switch "opens", it eliminates power to the control transformer and the range will shut down, until the switch resets. A weak thermal switch, or cooling fan that is not circulating the hot air under the cooktop, could cause your issue.
