Hi, My Maytag side by side refrigerator went completely dead yesterday. Everything melted and I could not hear any sound coming from it. I left it plugged and when I woke up this morning it was running normally. There was no power outage in the house. Do you have any explanation? Thanks!
ANSWER Hello Brian,
The first thing I would do is wiggle the plug in the wall receptacle and see if this interrupts the power to the unit. (Hint:opening the door and watching the interior lights shows the problem best). Many times, a wall outlet fails and costs the customer dearly because it just wasn't a suspect. Check it and the breaker. When you check the breaker, flip another one off to see how it feels. Then flip the breaker off and back on for the refrigerator. This is for comparison reasons since breakers are not flipped daily, it's easy to not realize a breaker is hard to work or too easy to operate without the comparison. From this point, if no problems are found, look for an electrical connection on the unit that could be failing.I would go into further detail, but without the specific model number, it's impossible to know what wiring configuration we are looking at. If you would please re-post with the specific model number off of the units' I.D. tag, we can assist you in the diagnosis and repair of your unit.
