Whirlpool gas dryer. Drum turns but does not heat. Vent is clean. The ignitor glows but after a few second I hear a click and it stops glowing and no heat. Do I need to replace the coils? I do not have an ohm meter.
ANSWER Hello Greg,
The best way to test unit is with multi-meter. You would want to test the ignitor first. Even though the ignitor glows, if it is not getting enough amperage to allow the coils to open then you would need to replace ignitor 279311. Ignitor should be drawing 3.2 to 3.6 amps. Should ohm out between 50 and 950 ohms cold.
