I have a Whirlpool gd25dfxfw01 that doesn't cool (compressor doesn't run) until I strike the control unit (in the top front inside of the refrigerator) between the two temperature knobs...then the compressor cuts on and runs for awhile, and the refrigerator gets cold. Is the most likely cause a sticking "adaptive defrost timer" or the cold control, or something else?
ANSWER Hello Mike. You need to look for loose connections. If none is found, replace the cold control on the unit.
