Have a side by side model #ED20TW, came with home we bought 9 yrs ago, it is now leaking water and not cooling, Clean coils underneath monthly also started making a rattly noise by intake valve area?? help, what would you recommend other than buying a new fridge? drain plug is clear, it tried to freeze but is now not getting cold ..Any help would be appreciated

Ms Fixit for Model Number #ED20TW

ANSWER Ms. Fixit, The first thing that you will want to check is to see if the condenser fan motor is running. Check to see if the fans are running. If the evaporator fan is running but not the condenser fan then the condenser fan 833697 is most likely bad and would need to be replaced. If neither fan is running then you would want to check to see if the unit is stuck in defrost. The way to do this is when you open the refrigerator door and look at the bottom of the control panel (underneath) there is a hole on the right side. If you use a flat blade screwdriver and put into the hole there is the defrost timer 482493. You can turn the defrost timer and if it clicks and the fans start running and the unit starts then you will want to replace the defrost timer. If both fans are running then check to see if the compressor is running. If the compressor is not running then you will want to check the start relay on the side of the compressor to make sure that it is good. You can do this by pulling the relay off the compressor (with the unit unplugged) and shake the relay 4387535 and if it rattles then the relay is bad. If the compressor is running then you will want to check to see if there is heavy frost building on the back wall of the freezer. If there is then you need to check the continuity of the heater 2323197 and thermostat W10225581 and if one of them does not have continuity then replace that part. If both have continuity then replace the defrost timer.
